AROLAND MAN ACCUSED OF POINTING A GUN IS RELEASED

“EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY” – Eric Magiskan on his reason for waiving his Gladue rights in court.

AROLAND MAN ACCUSED OF POINTING A GUN IS RELEASED ON UNDERTAKING.

Appearing handcuffed for a bail hearing in Courtroom 103 this afternoon is 42 year old ERIC JOSEPH MAGISKAN.

Crown Attorney Misbah Haque is present along with Duty Counsel Brennan Sacevich are appearing before Her Worship Anna Gibbon today.

Due to a Section 517 publication ban, evidence or reasons given can not be published.

MAGISKAN is released on an undertaking with conditions to stay away from his alleged victims and not possess any weapons. He’s quite happy to agree to those conditions.

His handcuffs are removed and he’s happy to be free.

His next court appearance is February 28,2019 in Geraldton at The French Club.

Inside Edition had the chance to speak with ERIC MAGISKAN outside the courthouse immediately after his release. He’s relieved to be free and maintains his innocence. He is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. I find him to be very friendly and polite in person.

WAIVING OF GLADUE RIGHTS.

In all the years I’ve been watching court hearings, I have NEVER seen an indigenous defendant waive his Gladue rights. INSIDE EDITION asked MAGISKAN why he chose to do that.

He simply responded that “EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY”

I could only agree with him on that point.

ERIC was looking forward to returning to the home he owns to take care of his dog and resume his business as a web based entrepreneur. He runs a job finding website www.ahkijobs.com amongst other business activities. I’ll post his website in the comments section.

As usual, no taxpayer subsidized media like TBLAZYNEWSWATCH or CBC Thunder Bay are present at the courthouse to report.
